What makes PostiBoard so darn special?
Sometimes, simple applications that do just a few things well can be the most useful.

PostiBoard strives to give you the following:
  • An extremely easy to use interface, that feels like the real world and works exactly as you would expect it to
  • A web-app that is happy to play in any modern browser. All you need is a moderately new version of Flash, which 98% of people have by default
  • Seamless, "automagic" saving of everything you do
  • Some nice web-enabled options, like being able to email your notes, or share notes with friends
  • If you are a Twitter fan, you can monitor your friends right on your PostiBoard
  • Use it like a big copy-paste board. Most computers only let you copy-paste one thing at a time, so you can use the PostiBoard to copy multiple bits of info
Plus, PostiBoard is totally free and it takes literally 15 seconds to sign up.

Why would I want to use this?
After looking around the web, it became apparent that while lots of people seem to like the idea of having little post-it style notes around, all of the implementations were for Windows and were applications you needed to run.

The problems with that approach is rather large in our opinion. First, it leaves all the people on the Mac or Linux out in the cold. Second, it locks you to the computer that you have the software on. Third, most looked unnecessarily complex. And finally, most of them were tacky and Web 2.0-less.

PostiBoard strives to eliminate all of those bad attributes. Instead, PostiBoard is based on standard web tech, saves all of your notes to a database, and makes your notes available no matter where you are, as long as you can get online.

What does "Beta" mean?
Think of Beta software like a birthday cake. This cake has been baked, and the first layer of frosting put on so it's perfectly edible and probably pretty darn tasty, but it still could use some decoration. That's Beta. PostiBoard should work well for most everyone, but there are undoubtedly things that need a little sprucing up, features that could smoothed out, or things added to make it better.

While we do not anticipate any problems, there is a very very tiny possibility that things could go horribly wrong, so I wouldn't put your only copy of your Last Will & Testament in a PostiNote, or copy all of your credit card numbers and online passwords into here. Cuz that would be mighty silly of you.

Do you have a demo of some kind that I can look at?
Why of course. This quick video will show you the highlights.
  • After you have registered, you can login and start making notes.
  • Simply click "New Note" and get to work. There's really no step 2.
  • You can drag your notes around, click in them to edit the text (and if you put more text into a note than fits, you can scroll up and down), or click the little arrow in the corner for text and color options.
  • You can change the color of the PostiBoard background with the color picker at the top.
  • If you make a note and happen to get it off screen (like if you are using another computer with a small monitor) you can click the Arrange Notes button to bring those notes back on screen.
  • Manage Notes lets you activate or deactivate all the notes you've ever made.
  • You can email yourself a copy of your note, by clicking the button in the note options.
  • Not Shown in Video: YOu can click Share Notes to get a special web address that you can give to friends. They can visit that to see all your notes, but can't make any changes.

Isn't "Super Notes Software Package X" way more capable? It can do a bajillion awesome things like detect my mood and take my notes for me while I sleep!
Probably. But honestly, sometimes all you need is a totally simple way to jot something down in a second. PostiBoard has no menus to wade through, nothing to configure, hardly anything to click, and nothing to mess up. We can't count the number of scraps of paper we had lying around before PostiBoard came along.

Do you have any ideas for future enhancements?
There are a few things that we are considering, but none of these are set in stone. They could appear tomorrow, or could be duds that will never see the light of day.
  • Using the background of the PostiBoard like a doodle pad, letting you freeform draw on it
  • Collaboration mode, where multiple people can use the same PostiBoard at once and see everyone else's work immediately
  • Multiple Language Support
  • Having the ability to collapse or shrink notes, to make more room on screen
  • Being able to email or SMS the system with a note, which will automatically appear on your PostiBoard
  • Having pictures as the background, instead of solid colors
  • Having an unobtrusive calendar and/or clock on the background of the PostiBoard

I've got an awesome idea for a new feature. Should I tell you about it?
Sure! Why not? Even simple things can be made better. We will be very judicious about the features we add though, as we want to keep PostiBoard absolutely simple to use, without too much extra fluff. Head to the contact page.

Soooo.... What's with the ads at the bottom?
PostiBoard is free, and always will be. However, like pretty much everything online it is nice to include a few unobtrusive elements that can offset some of the costs of development and hosting.

With PostiBoard, we work with an affiliate program that lets us give our users ads for a variety of companies that we think are interesting. The ads you see are from companies we picked for reason, because we think they could be valuable to our users.

If you happen to use the links in the affiliate bar, and then happen to purchase something from that vendor, we'll get a percentage. It's pretty simple. It's important to note that they are NOT pay-per-click ads like you see from Google. Pay-per-click ads can certainly make people money, but they rely on reading the content of the page and delivering ads that it thinks are relevant. With PostiBoard though, your content is your own, and there is no way for a service like Google to get access to it.

What did you use to make PostiBoard?
Various Macs, Flash CS3, PhotoShop CS3, Coda for the PHP coding, MySQL as the database, and lots of braaaainz...brainz of these people: Interarchitect.com
